José M. Cela López

José M. Cela López holds a Bachelor of Science, with specialised training in biochemistry, biotechnology and clinical analysis, a PhD in Biomedicine and Pharmacology, and a Master in Public Health. A pioneer in lipidomics and an expert in rare and neurodegenerative diseases, he has lectured at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), the University of Barcelona and Complutense University of Madrid.

He has founded Micromed, a human clinical reference laboratory; Microvet, a veterinary reference laboratory; Eolas Science and Celavista Pharmaceuticals in Ireland; Natac Pharma, Nutritional Doctors and Celavista Mito‑Biogenesis in Spain; and Celavista Laboratories, Aircuretech and Aircure PhytoEnhancer in the United States, and led the integration of Naturemimetix into the group. Over the years he has developed and marketed more than 100 products, with more than 70 brands present in the United States and Europe, and he is the inventor of patents in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, China, Japan and the European Union. For more than 15 years he has collaborated, under confidentiality agreements, with leading companies of the global pharmaceutical industry (Top 20), developing products for them.

For more than 20 years he has led the development of Retriacyl, and for nearly 40 years he has studied the mitochondrion as the foundation of life, ageing and degeneration, the scientific vision that guides the Celavista Group today.
